Why
Mentoring?
More and more churches are raising up leaders from within their own congregations—a practice I strongly support!
However, many of us step into leadership roles without a clear development plan, training, or sufficient support. We’re often left to navigate the journey on our own. On top of that, our relationships shift—those we once leaned on for support are now the very people we lead. So, where does the leader turn for guidance?
Appointed From Within exists to bridge that gap, offering support to church leaders through a mentor who understands their challenges and can help transform those challenges into actionable, achievable goals.

Meet Sal
Church Pastor & Leadership Mentor
Hi, I’m Sal!
I’m a wife, a mum of two, a follower of Jesus, a pastor, and leader. I love coffee, good conversation, laughing, op-shopping, and chocolate.
I am deeply passionate about the local church and developing strong, effective leaders.
For nearly 15 years, I’ve been serving as a church pastor — something I never originally planned to do. One day, the senior pastor asked if I'd consider joining the staff ministry team at the church I'd grown up in. I had no formal theological, leadership, or ministry training, but I had a strong sense of calling and a deep commitment to my local church — so I jumped in.
Like many, I had to sink or swim. Sometimes I swam, and sometimes I was seriously sinking. Facing situations I had no idea how to handle, like leading my friends and family, navigating blurred boundaries, managing conflict, and change.
Over the years, I’ve combined this experience with a Master of Leadership, and now I’m passionate about helping other leaders thrive in similar situations. Being appointed from within your local church is challenging, but it also has unique opportunities.
